When checking, servicing or diagnosing boom load cell issues, it’s a good idea to have some information handy. The Operator’s and Service manuals supply the correct information for testing proper operation, troubleshooting, and replacing the load cell if necessary.

It is important, when replacing any pieces of the modular key switches, to use the correct switch blocks and key operator parts and to install them in the correct position. For example, the current production Skyjack boomlift models 40/45T, 61/66T, 46/63AJ, and 82/86T with the Deutz 2.9L engine use a modular style key switch at the base controls.

Many of the engines we use in our scissorlift and boomlift models utilize a simple pull solenoid to operate the engine throttle and choke. The solenoid consists of a steel plunger that is placed inside a wound coil of copper wire. When this coil is energized, a magnetic field is produced which draws the plunger into the magnetic field. The other end of the plunger is connected to the throttle or choke lever to be operated.
