Skyjack showcases largest new articulating boom at JDL 2017 in France
September 19, 2017; Guelph, Ontario – Linamar Corporation’s (TSX-LNR) Skyjack division is exhibiting its new and largest articulating boom at JDL 2017 trade show in Beaune, France, from September 20-22. The SJ85 AJ will take pride of place at stand A12, and will be complemented by several models in Skyjack’s line-up of simply reliable mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
“Our SJ85 articulating boom is a great new product as it provides operators with exceptional functional capabilities across many different applications,” said Malcolm Early, vice president, marketing, at Skyjack. “We anticipate that it will be a popular new addition to French rental companies’ fleets, and we look forward to showcasing it at JDL 2017.”
The SJ85 AJ is the largest of Skyjack’s articulating booms and features a class-leading working height of 27.91 m (91.5 ft), horizontal reach of 17.07 m (56 ft) and a superior up-and-over clearance of 10.36 m (34 ft); all of which sets this unit apart from similar machines in its class. It has dual platform capacities of 340/227 kg (750/500 lbs), a two/three personal rating, and 360-degree continuous turret rotation.
Skyjack’s unique design elements on its rough terrain booms are included on the SJ85 AJ: EASYDRIVE™, direction-sensing drive and steer controls regardless of turret position over chassis; AXLDRIVE™, an axle-based drive system for excellent rough terrain traction; SKYRISER™, which offers true vertical rise without drifting; and SPEEDYREACH™ efficiency, enabling the lowering of the fly boom to ground level for re-stocking without lowering the riser.
“Operators will definitely notice how much easier it is to get to max height and back down with the SJ85 AJ,” said Corey Connolly, product manager at Skyjack. “Skyjack’s riser design is what sets our new boom apart from similar machines in its class. There is no need to worry about performing multiple functions to lift the riser. The SJ85 AJ’s riser performs the same as all other Skyjack articulating booms – it goes straight up and down.”

As with other Skyjack units, it is driveable at full height with its 0.90 m (3 ft) roll-out extension deck fully extended. It has an overall capacity of 350 kg (772 lbs) and a rated load lift time of 71 seconds.
Skyjack’s SJ6832 RTE is the only electric model in its range of rough terrain scissors. The unit is ideal for indoor jobsites requiring machines with zero emissions. It has a maximum working platform height of 11.75 m (38.6 ft), an overall length of 2.72 m (8.9 ft) and an overall width of 1.76 m (5.8 ft).
