The Guelph Wish Fund for Children was founded in August 1984 by Ron Asselstine and Alan Ferris with the first Wish being granted in May 1985. GWFC has a vision of providing hope, strength, and joy to children and their families during a very difficult time. Through partnership with the community, volunteers, and the generosity of so many individuals, groups, and businesses, they are able to provide a special and memorable experience to all children and their families that are facing a significant or lift-altering disease, injury, or medical challenge.

“I don’t know if you are aware of this, but the connection between Skyjack and the Wish Fund goes beyond even this sponsorship,” says Helen Loftin, executive director for GWFC. “Perhaps this is not even extraordinary to the Skyjack team, but from the outside looking in, the fact that one of your workers has been treated with dignity and compassion in the wake of his daughter’s critical health diagnosis, shows that Skyjack believes community and corporate responsibility extends to ALL aspects of their business – including how to treat employees. Our Wish Kid dad wants his family’s story to remain anonymous – so we won’t be able to show you a photo of his child, nor give you his name. But he is on your team and he is grateful to Skyjack for understanding his situation, and so am I. It shows how ‘human’ your company is.”

The Guelph Wish Fund for Children, 34th Annual Golf Tournament will be taking place on June 17th at the Victoria Park East Golf Club.
