Lending a Lift at Romford Cemetery
UK rental company Star Platforms has donated the use of a Skyjack SJ63 AJ boom lift to help add some festive decorations at Romford Cemetery this year.
Terry Pace sadly lost his 3 ½ month old son Georgie last year. In December 2019 Terry celebrated what would have been Georgie’s first Christmas by decorating the area with lights and decorations. The feedback from other families and visitors to the cemetery was so positive that Terry wanted to do something bigger and better in 2020. After posting a plea on social media for donations, the local community rallied around and he was inundated with donations decorations, fairy lights and even money.
One challenge was the logistics of decorating the existing tree which is over 60ft tall, Terry soon realised he would need professional help to reach the tree and install the lights safely. After contacting a couple of local companies, Terry contacted Star Platforms to hire a cherry picker. Tania Simmons, Sales Office Manager wanted to do more to help. Tania said, “This is a fantastic way to bring festive sparkle to local families, so we offered the use of a cherry picker free of charge. One of our drivers, Mark Waite, kindly donated his time to operate the machine leaving Terry and his team to install the lights”.
“This time of year is particularly difficult for families who have lost loved ones. The support from Star Platforms has enabled us to bring a little positivity to the families and visitors. It does not matter if a child is living or sleeping with the angels, they all deserve to have bright lights and baubles at Christmas time. Thank you to everyone at Star Platforms for making this happen” said Terry Pace.
